Getting to know me

When I clarified that I wasn't straight but curved, Mark burst out laughing—until I pointed to Maka as my girlfriend. He seemed unfazed, casually mentioning she was dating his friend. Maka raised an eyebrow from across the room, then strolled over to join our conversation.

"Now that I've debunked your joke, will you ask me out?" Mark challenged.

"What joke?" Maka asked, arriving just in time to hear Mark recount my curved comment with amusement.

"Maka, are you actually in a relationship?" I asked. She stayed quiet, leaving the question hanging between us.

Most people assume Maka is a lesbian. She doesn't correct them—their assumptions don't bother her either way.
