Her Unwanted Mate

“MATE!”

I look at him and realize: he already knows.

He moves closer to me, if that’s even possible, but I don’t move. This brings a proud smile to his face and I feel myself turn into mush.

He slowly places his hand on my cheek as if to not scare me away and that’s when I feel it: the sparks that mom and dad always talked about. But these aren’t sparks; they feel like Fireworks.

I am blinded by this feeling, mesmerized with it and that’s when I hear him say, “MINE!”
