Rosenda is the breadwinner and a product of someone's terrible past. That someone is her mother, with a significant other in the Philippines, waiting for her return. Rosenda's stepfather loathes her big time. Her mother shows her no affection and often reminds her how lucky her daughter is that she has decided to let her live.
